Lenovo’s Acquisition Of Motorola From Google:
Is Google Sticking To Software?

By Kia Dargahi

LenovoLockup_POS_Color.jpg

As you may or may not know, Lenovo recently purchased Motorola from Google in hopes of further penetrating the smartphone market. After all, Lenovo’s name isn’t quite known outside the realm of personal computing. This being said, Google has lost a potential hardware asset and might not be able to make the great hardware + software devices that we have seen from Apple.

From the start, Motorola has been losing money for Google. Now, while this 384 Million dollar loss might seem like a massive hit to Google as a company, the software giant makes about 12 Billion dollars in earnings and the hit was more like a scrape in a giant sheet of metal. “Googorola” is now a thing of the past, something that is personally hard for me to believe, as there were enticing products on the table such as project Ara, a project bent on being able to replace individual parts on a phone. I assume I wasn’t the only one who was disappointed when Google decided not to use Motorola as the hardware for the Nexus 5 and 7 (although they are still very well built).

It seems to me that Google put Motorola in the right direction by proving that specs weren’t everything with the Moto X and proving that a low price point doesn’t mean a terrible phone with the Moto G. This being said, it’s entirely up to Lenovo at this point as to which direction the company will head in. This is to say that Google has put the foundation in pace for Lenovo but it’s up to them to take advantage of this greatly recognized name and enter the smartphone market to a greater extent.

Now that we’ve covered Motorola, what does the future of Google’s hardware look like? Now, Google has to this day and age only overlooked the hardware of two gadgets and those would be the chromebook pixel and the Glass. Needless to say, the industrial design of the pixel is stunning and the Glass is as well designed as it is innovative. The next clear step would be to build their own smartphones and tablets right? Well, it might not be as cut and dry as you might think.

Up until now, Google has partnered up with companies like HTC, Samsung, ASUS, and most recently LG in order to make their smartphones and tablets. What Google has done with these partnerships is secured these company’s roots in android in hopes that they will continue to positively promote the platform and simultaneously have great products to sell to the market. Let’s be honest, the Pixel and Glass have been niche devices that not everyone has a need for let alone afford. By using other Manufacturer’s already made designs (the Nexus 5 is loosely based off of the LG G2 for example), Google saves money and time while still benefitting from Google Play profits which, contrary to what you might think, bring a lot of revenue for the candy coated giant.

Well there you have it ladies and gentleman. For a weeks now, Motorola has been under the reigns of Lenovo and we will hopefully see the fruit of their marriage come to life during CES 2015 next year. While Google might seem like it is losing traction, rest assured that there are more sweet goodies that will come to life in the future.

PRZMAN - 5 Shaving Tips

By Pirooz Sarshar

Pirooz 2 christopher robbins photoPRZMan founder Pirooz Sarshar, a men’s lifestyle and grooming guru who has produced nearly 100 online videos viewed by more than 3 million viewers. His irreverent yet deeply informative men’s lifestyle platform at PRZMAN “The Institute of Manhood” -- gets 40,000 unique visitors per month.  Sarshar describes PRZMAN as the place where “the brainy, the brawny and the regular bro can find the tools every guy needs” to be the best brand of man he can be.

So, whether you're going on an audition, a new job interview or a date these tips are sure to help you look your best.

1. Prepare

It’s best to shave while taking a warm shower or right afterwards. The heat will open your pores and the steam will help beard hairs become softer and more pliable.

Dead skin cells, flakes and grime left on your skin can clog the razor blade. Use an exfoliant and face wash suited to your skin type. Regular bar soap used for your body is not pH balanced for your face, and will leave your skin feeling dry, tight and irritated after you shave.

2. Use Shave Oil

A can of shaving cream and a basic razor are a recipe for ugly ingrown hairs, nicks and cuts. Instead, start with a shave oil. It’s designed to sit on the surface of your skin and lift the hairs away from your face. Massaging oil into your skin prior to shaving will also provide extra lubrication for your blade, and protect you from razor burn and irritation.

Forget using foaming creams, as they contain pockets of air that pump up the foam; so your razor ends up catching more foam than actual hair. Some foam will be created naturally when you swirl or smooth your cream/gel.

3. Don’t Drag

Don’t drag your razor. Instead, hold it at a 90-degree angle and shave with the grain of your hair, usually downward. Use short strokes and rinse the blade often. Use your non-dominant hand to stretch the skin gently; creating a smooth and even surface for the blade.

Shave your cheeks first. Leave your neck, chin and upper lip for last. These areas are more susceptible to nicks and irritation, so taking extra time with the oil and cream can help.

4. Touch It Up

Run your hands over your face to notice any spots you may have missed. It’s easy to skip spots along your jaw, ears, lips or below your nose. If you find a patch, simply dab the skin with warm water. The water will refresh the shave oil and you can mow those missed hairs with ease.

Once you’re finished, rinse your face with cool water to cleanse the skin. The sudden change to cool water will close your pores.

5. Protect

A little aftershave does wonders for protecting the skin. Avoid aftershaves that contain alcohol, as they’ll sting your freshly shaved skin and dry it out. Instead, look for moisturizing ingredients like essential oils, aloe or shea butter. Aftershave also provides a barrier for bacteria that can cause breakouts. And frankly, it just smells nice!

5 Indie Movies That Will Stimulate Your Brain

By Andrew Mathwick

It is 100%-guaranteed and scientifically proven that watching indie movies stimulates the frontal cortex in your brain in such a way that makes you feel similar to the way you would after taking large doses of Adderall or drinking a lot of Red Bull really fast. Watching indie movies truly makes you feel like you have wings. Because of how good watching indie movies can make you feel, I’ve compiled a list of the top five indie movies that will truly stimulate your frontal cortex.

These movies are all comedy movies (when in the right mindset).

winter passing.movie poster1. Winter Passing (2005)

Winter Passing is a movie about Zooey Deschanel snorting crack-cocaine in a small Michigan town while visiting her famous writer father. Deschanel is visiting her father because she needs money. Deschanel looks like she has given up in this movie; the movie is very good because of this. Will Ferrell is also in this movie. Ferrell likes to play guitar and is very religious in this movie. Ferrell is not very funny in this movie; this movie is probably Ferrell’s attempt for an Oscar nomination or something. After watching this movie, I promise you will feel less sad about your own life.

bernie-movie poster-Jack black2. Bernie (2011)

Bernie is a movie about Jack Black being a funeral director. Black is very good at being a funeral director in this movie. It is not totally clear, but Black might be gay in this movie. The movie takes place in a small Texas town, and everyone in the town is sort of OK with Black being possibly gay. Everyone in the town is sort of OK with Black being maybe-gay because he is such a good funeral director. The director of this movie is the same director of the movie The School of Rock. This movie is nothing like the The School of Rock, but it is still very entertaining. Matthew McConaughey is also in this movie, as a police officer. This movie is based on a true story.

the-way-way-back-movie poster3. The Way Way Back (2013)

The Way Way Back has a great cast, includng Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janey and Sam Rockwell. The Way Way Back is a movie about a kid who doesn’t like his mom’s boyfriend. Carrell is the boyfriend. The kid gets a summer job at a waterpark. The kid dances at the waterpark, and everyone there starts to like him. Everyone at the waterpark calls the kid Pop ‘N’ Lock.’ This script is penned by one of the co-writers of The Descandents. If you want to watch a movie that is funny but also pretty depressing, you should 100% watch this. Also, Carrell smokes pot in this movie.

lars-and-the-real-girl-poster.ryan gosling4. Lars and the Real Girl (2007)

Lars and the Real Girl is a movie about Ryan Gosling acting crazy while he dates a girl who is a lifelike doll. Gosling buys the lifelike doll girl from a sex site. The lifelike doll’s name is Bianca. Gosling’s brother and sister-in-law pretend that the lifelike doll isn’t a lifelike doll; they pretend that the lifelike doll is a human. Gosling’s brother and sister-in-law tell the whole town that Gosling is crazy, and they tell the town to pretend that the lifelike doll is really a human. I won’t try to spoil any more, but other crazy things happen, and there is a lot of drama, and by the end, Gosling is still crazy.

waitress movie poster.keri russell5. Waitress (2007)

I forgot what the title of this movie was so I typed in, “movie about girl who makes pies and hates life” on Google, and I found the title. The title of this movie is Waitress; and was released in 2007. Waitress is about a girl who is about 35 years old and hates her husband. The girl is very good at making pies, and works at a pie shop where she makes a lot of pies. The girl gets pregnant from her husband, then she makes a lot of pies. The girl is mad that she is pregnant. The girl makes pies that reflect her anger. The names that the girl gives her pies are all very good/crazy. For example, there is “Pregnant Miserable Self Pitying Loser Pie,” “I Hate My Husband Pie,” and even “Old Joes Horny Pie.” All of these pies look extremely delicious in the movie, and on their own make Waitress worth watching.

P.S. That thing I wrote at the beginning about brains might not be true!

Voice Over Narrative is Needed By Dean Lachiusa

Principle footage for Cosmic Pizza was shot 14 years ago. Recently I tossed away the original script and using the original DV clips, I composed an entirely new storyline.

The current 92 minute mix will be complete after I add a new Voice Over narrative.

I'll need a talented, comedic narrator.

I'll also need a new media kit -- everything from Posters, One sheets, web design, and DVD covers.

Please see www.CosmicPizza.org for first drafts of the teaser and other material.

A secure online screener is on Vimeo, and this is something I will share with those who decide to help me out.
